Wacław Wantuch (b. 1965, Poland) paints the female figure in oil.
Once working in an art conservation studio — scraping back layers of overpaint from the walls of a medieval interior — he found that the oldest colours had outlasted all that came after.
That is why he prepares his pigments following historical recipes.
His work is held in public collections in Poland and has been recognised internationally, most recently as a Grand Jury Award Finalist at the 17th Annual NUDE, Manifest Gallery, Cincinnati (2025).
He studied at the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts, Kraków (1992), and lives and works in Poland.
